News from Vietnam indicates that TRV port has begun generating interest in Southeast Asian countries. There is already a direct service from TRV to the port of Vung Tau in Vietnam. They may have taken special notice of our port because of this regular service from the beginning.
Hung Dong Investment Services, a Vietnamese firm, recently stated: “Vizhinjam could become a new competitive transit hub in the Indian Ocean.” Out of the 13 ‘major’ ports in India, they identified only our port! They also clarified how TRV would benefit them: “Added transshipment route options for Vietnamese goods to Europe, instead of only Singapore/Colombo.” They likely see TRV as an alternative to existing transshipment ports due to the difficulties or delays they face there. These words suggest that TRV’s relevance and reputation are growing beyond Indian Ocean Rim nations’ cargo.
