Opening the door to economic freedom

The door to a dream we have held for over three decades is finally opening. The benefits of Indian cargo moving in and out through Trivandrum port are already being discussed. Industry spokespersons have clarified that avoiding a trip to a foreign transshipment port alone can save approximately INR 38,000 (~USD 450) per container. Last year, India transshipped around 6.7 million containers. The amount spent on this alone exceeds INR 250bn (~USD 3bn). And it is not just these billions that we are losing.

In the coming years, not only transshipment but the total number of containers will increase. Every container that passes through will create numerous job opportunities. The news that cargo can reach destination markets in less time will turn global manufacturing companies into investors, not just around the port, but across the district and state. This will put money into the hands of more people.
