September set a new operational benchmark at Trivandrum port, marked by the highest container throughput per vessel call to date. Over the port’s 27 months of operation, average container exchanges typically ranged between 2,000 and 2,300 TEU per call. In September, that average rose to 3,335 TEU.
The port handled 130,051 TEU across just 39 vessel calls. This broke the historical pattern where lower vessel calls translated into lower container volume. In January, for instance, a record 62 ships berthed at TRV, but handled only 123,092 TEU. The latest figures suggest MSC has adjusted its operating model, opting to handle larger cargo volumes per call rather than increasing calling frequency.
